1/2 Marathon!

When I registered to run this 1/2 marathon, I signed up so I could run it with my friend, Shanna. Running a 1/2 marathon sounded really good in theory but carrying it out was a lot harder than I thought! However, Shanna and I trained together, running our distance runs slowly so we could talk (and not strain ourselves). We trained in rain, snow, sleet and almost never shine! It was an unbelievable 60ish degrees and sunny on the day of the race! We mostly trained in this beautiful park near Shanna's house and ran the same loop over and over and over (sometimes for 10 miles). On race day it was fun to have a change of scenery but I'm not sure anything could have prepared me for running on cobbles for 13 straight miles! But we did it and feel very proud that 1-We finished it and 2- We ran the whole time.. basically our 2 main goals. I ran cross country and track in high school and run 5 miles a few days a week in the summertime but 13 miles was definitely a lot more. Shanna and I were peppy for the 1st 10 miles and then we hit the wall but kept coaching each other to keep going. I loved it but was very happy to be finished. I definitely have a new respect for people who run marathons! Thanks, Shanna! Seriously could not have done this without you!

Our before shot (a little nervous and scared but psyched!):

Running, running, running, running:

Meanwhile, Shanna's husband, Phil, 3 children and our friend, Lauren are cheering us on, going from one spot to another. Props to Phil for being "Superdad" on raceday:

Our after shot (feeling a little dizzy but accomplished):

Meeting up friends after! Here's Mary who had an awesome race:

Liz tore it up with a 1 hour, 41 minutes time!

Wow, what a day! Still can't believe we did it and had so much fun!
