On Saturday we went to an area of town called Zapopan. Tim tells me that Guadalajara has doubled in size and absorbed several other towns in the last few years and perhaps this area, that feels small and charming, was one of the towns. We enjoyed a day of trying food, doing a little crafty shopping, walking around and more food. Its Mexico, afterall. Home of the best food on earth.
The coconut guy fascinates me. Tim tells me that there are many of these stations all over the city. He cuts the top off with a machete, puts a straw in and you drink the water. That is step 1. Step 2 is return coconut when you are finished drinking it. He then scoops out all of the coconut, put it into a plastic baggie. Adds lime, chili flakes and then bon apetite, you eat the hunks of fresh coconut. Brings new meaning to the phrase, "add the lime to the coconut."
Mmm, coconut water..
Tim needs to help. Its pretty filling.
Trying a fried plantain with caramel sauce.
This is a typical square. Cathedral- check. Gazebo- check. Vendors trying to sell you stuff- check. Benches in the shade that are never free- check.
The park has really pretty tropical plants and flowers growing all over.
This kid loves outings. I mean loves them! This is what she's like most of the time we go out and about.
Sweet baby can fall asleep on any mode of transportation. She does make sure that no one can take her beloved Sophie!
