Riverside School, where Laura works, annually puts on a Burn's Night Supper. This tradition is Scottish, in memory of Robert Burns, a Scottish poet. I learned that he wrote the traditional New Year song, Auld Lang Syne.
The evening generally went like this: we arrived at the venue with bagpipes playing to greet us, there was an introduction about Robert Burns, presentation of the haggis (our food), toast to the lassies, toast to the laddies, Scottish country dancing (sort of like line dancing) and then disco dancing. Between the kilts, the accents, the music and the whiskey, one might forget they are actually in Prague...
We enjoyed the merriment with both staff and parents.
The supper was actually pretty good. Just don't ask us what haggis is....we're not exactly sure!

Poor Tim had injured his calf in a b-ball game and could not participate in the dancing. Laura enjoyed all of the group dances.
